I checked my shutter counts to see what 100,000 clicks would really compare to. My wife and I use our gear more than twice a week on a regular basis. I thought our counts were going to be much higher then they actually were. I would say that the average person will never use their DSLR to the max of what the manufacture says the shutter can handle. In any case I was surprised at how low they were based on how often we shoot.

My Nikon D2X = 121487
My D90 = 43220
