"Twidgets" is a home video documenting Kristen and Heather Hagen's vacation to Norway in August, 2008. After disembarking at Kaupanger and stopping through Sogndal, we take a detour into Nigardsbreen, one of the most popular fingers of Norway's largest glacier, Jostedalsbreen. Snow White takes us most of the way, along a turquoise stream fed largely by the runoff from the glacier and melting mountain snowpack. We hike the last bit, which is a walk in the park after the previous morning's ascent of Pulpit Rock.

After having visited the glacier myself a couple of times earlier in the Summer, I am surprised to find that chunks of ice the size of small houses have broken free. A rope is now in place warning visitors to keep their distance from certain areas, but we still witness climbing parties safely making their way across the surface. While it is obvious that Nigardsbreen is receding at a rapid rate, it is still a majestic sight to behold. In a quintessential Norwegian experience, we drink straight from the ice cold stream trickling from underneath the glacier, as though it were the fountain of youth. We certainly play the part and take our time goofing off amid the beautiful scenery before hitting the road again for Sognefjell.
