Lon Dubh utilizes Craig Reynolds 'Boids' flocking algorithm to control a study of spectral EQ and granular synthesis.
Each boid (member of the swarm within the visualization) is assigned to an EQ frequency parameter. Using four granular synthesizers and four samples, each sample is split into twenty-five frequency parameters. Depth of field results in changes of each frequency's dynamic (far away = quiet, close = loud). The boids, once given points of attraction (flight destinations within the spatial field - left, right, front, back), generate unique results each time the program is triggered to start.
Lon Dubh is an example of an arranged sequence of the attributes - speed of flight, and points of attraction.
