I had fun with this one. Originally I had a specific list of sounds that Adriennee and I spoke about. But I was pretty concerned how I was going to get some pretty good bike noises and more importantly, an epic bike crash–or at least as epic as I was able to get it. Luckily my in-laws are all into some sort of death defying–most extreme hobby. So I hit up my brother-in-law and a few of his friends who were into BMX biking and went over to my father-in-laws shop. We finally got the end bike crash by a series of throwing two bikes at each other, my brother-in-law who willingly threw himself off his bike. Overall I ended up recording all kinds of weird and abstract sounds even some, which I have yet to edit.
I paid close attention to a few specific things in this video. His leg movement and peddling, the distance he was from the camera, and I tried to guess how sound would have naturally travelled in the space on the screen. So his “peddling” and the “spoke” folies I keyed the automation to add to the illusion of depth. The “truck” is a heater in my house, and the air brake is a water hose. Matter of fact a very cold water hose. The bells were from my daughter’s bike. There are many more tiny ones in there. Like I said, I had fun with this one.
The song “CHA CHA CHA” was written and performed by Jimmy Luxury and the Tommy Rome Orchestra
