SapientNitro’s second annual Idea Engineer Exchange event brought over 200 industry leaders to the IAC building in New York to convene on emerging opportunities and strategies in today’s marketing landscape. The “Connectology” name and theme of the conference was exemplified in Constellation, a real-time participatory experience served through mobile devices, a centrally deployed multi-touch table, and the IAC’s state-of-the-art video wall.

When attendees first arrived, their RFID-enabled event badges were activated and their names appeared on the large media wall’s dynamic data visualization. The Microsoft Surface 2 table transformed from a playful, reactive art experience to a personal polling interface when an attendee placed their unique constellation name badge on the surface. Attendees used their mobile device or the interactive table to plot the relevance and importance of eight conference topics on a playful interface. Responses were aggregated and plotted on the expansive video wall that cycled through the evolving constellations of opinions for each topic. As the dynamic dashboard for the event, Constellation stimulated discourse and connection-making between industry leaders shaping the future of marketing.
