excellent work! what kind of a steadicam did you use? Or how did you achieve the trailing shots?
  • Sebastian Woeber 2 years ago
:D hehe. I put the cam on the tripod and held it underneath the head. Oldschool steadycam so to say.

That was great! You should make a feature length climbing film!

Beautiful stuff! I felt like I was immersed into the story. I'm about to shoot a climber's story as well with 5D II. Could use all the tips you got. How did you grade the video? Magic Bullet?

You should win an award for your amazing cinematography. Perhaps honorary cameraman for "Man vs. Wild." I give you a lot of credit for achieving those shots under the extreme conditions presented by the project. You managed to properly focus and keep the camera steady as you operated with 2 hands and hung from a cliff with limited support. All as you switched between film and DSLR. Great shots, great story structure. Glad it was ten minutes long. The extra run time allowed me to be immersed in the story and you put me on that cliff. Well done.

    gute arbeit!

I love the section where you just hear the wind blowing and Angelika is eyeing up the draw. I had to thank God when I felt a chill.

Stunning cinematography, the shots are very well thought out. Sound design also very good, although I thought the wind sounds were a bit much at one point.

Really curious why you used Super 16. Would you use it again on a similar project over the 5D?
  • Sebastian Woeber 2 months ago
Well 16mm gave me slow motion. And no, I wouldn't choose it again, it was a budget decision and I barely saw anything through that Bolex camera. If I have budget now I'll go digital all the way.
