The Tamils of South India have a number of “Rites of Passage” ceremonies.
Usually this ceremony is done by Tamils when the girls are three or five years old. Elsewhere, Karnavedha may be done when the girl turns one.Kadhani Vizha (also Kaadhu Kutthal) is the Tamil name for this ceremony. Karnavedha is the Sanskrit name.
