wow. that was the coolest piece I have ever seen. Just one question, how did you get those shadows on the "floor"?
  • Justin Metz 3 months ago
If I'm not mistaken, the plugin he used, Trapcode Particular 2.0, interacts with 3D lights in AE (I believe I read that this is a new feature of the plugin).
  • Justin Metz 3 months ago
Edit: Wanting to make sure, I read the rest of his comments and found this below: "hello there. the shadows are not casted, they're the same particle layer in 3d perspective, blured and masked."

awesome effect, but the text-stuff.. is that a joke? I really don't see how those sentences connects with the visual or music. But hey, just an opinion. I love the visual.
  • Esteban Diácono 3 months ago
thanks for the feedback, Simon. No, it's not a joke. Actually the sentences are there because this was originally planed for a contest, and the concept they wanted us to show was "think outside the box". So i collected a few sentences -most of it from Brian Eno wonderful card set Oblique Strategies - and put them in the video. Later i decided not to send the piece, but hey, the text was already there and i kind of like it, as cheesy as it is.
  • Simon Eskildsen 3 months ago
oh - your choice, the piece is still really nice.
  • Esteban Diácono 3 months ago
thanks again, it's always good to hace different opinions. I'm rendering right now a "clean" version for Olafur, the author of the song. I guess that you'll like that version a bit more.
    cheers!
  • Esteban Diácono 3 months ago
Simon, the new version is up:

    vimeo.com/6284199
  • Simon Eskildsen 3 months ago
Thx for the heads up. I like the new version. I, for one, always have trouble going for the simple. In my music i over-complicate things and put in too much detail.
At the same time i really love all kinds of minimalism - both in music and film.
I play jazz and avantgarde piano, and sometimes when i improvise i see shapes a little similar to the ones you visualized here. Allthough not as consistent. I know its about audio react layers, but hey - it works really well.

Anyways, what i'm trying to say is that its all nice! Especially the new version. Cheers!

    dude, this is simply amazing!

    what a great look!

the only thing that makes me curious about this piece of work, is that i just can't figure out how you managed it to make those particles so fluid / smoky towards the end as they fade out...

    hehe

very nice altough. you got my love for this one ^^
