Father's experience with recording in the courts
4 months ago
A Canadian father provides his testimony about the violation of his rights and the threats and intimidation he was subjected to by judges and court staff when he attempted to record his own court hearing as is permitted under Ontario's Courts of Justice Act.
Many citizens have complained about similar abuses by court officials, yet the Province of Ontario seems to do nothing to fix this serious problem of the law being ignored and broken by judges and court officials themselves.
This father feels that judges and court officials want to control any record of what is said in court so that official transcripts can be altered without court officials getting caught. Other Canadians have expresed similar feelings.
This video provides a chilling example of how those in power abuse their power to erode the rights of individuals and to erode the Rule of Law which is the very foundation of democracy in Canada.

C Jones 3 months agoVery good rationale on why a recording is better than the transcripts - tone, voices etc. In Alberta we have so such right, but I had a friend who was bullied and charged with contempt of court. The transcripts proved absolutely no clue to what had happened to trigger this - his appeal of that decision (but which took 12 mths where he was denied access to his 4 kids) was quickly granted b/c of this "lack of evidence" (the judge did not speak merely summoned sheriff with "panic button" and him to "take this man away" - the rest of the transcript recorded negotiations between opposing counsel and judge - without my self-representing friend present). So in a perverse way the "official" transcript still helped.
