The frame loss looks quite severe here. Is this a vimeo fault?

Was this one done in MBL?
  •
  • playan 4 months ago
No, NEVER with MBL !!! Even the programmers of MBL can never reach such a look with their product.

I must admit that I've never had any success with MBL, and very rarely have I seen anything good with it. This is quite a good look though Playan.

Um, I hate to be a downer, but this looks nothing like film. This is way overly sharpened, your highlights are severely blown, and your losing tons of information in your blacks. Nice try though

Oh, why are you all slaves of deep blacks and sharp highlights? Don't you watch movies?!? Ok, open apple.com/trailers and watch any trailer with very high HD quality and tell me when you see such a conception you talk about?!? Is this video a music video? I don't think so. And I think your criteria is exactly about such a look. In movie productions is almost impossible to see what you mean...

Well, I don't think it's that people are slaves to it... well I take that back, I believe that they are. And it's because all people do in America is watch movies, it's what we eat, breath and sleep here, and it's an unmistakable look and feel that we are a slave to. Don't be surprised when critics from such a market demand that you to live up to that standard when using the term "Hollywood".

Your work looks shockingly close to the apple trailers, highly compressed files that tend to have flatter colors and low ranges in the blacks. But sit in the multiplex cinemas of California or New York and you get the a very different experience and color range. You get Hollywood.

If you titled your files Apple trailer look, everyone would applaud you.

I've worked around film and high-end productions and I think that you can memic the looks very well. But I think when you put Hollywood into it, there is a level people are expecting and apple.com/quicktime movie trailers aren't it.

    But anyways, great work!

Thanks for your comment! You are right in some percent, but this is internet, this is Vimeo. Therefore I dont create a quality like in multiplex cinemas for Vimeo, it is not worth. Actually, I render my videos with HD video bitrate much lower than DVD video bitrate. I just want the people see what I can reach!!! The highest quality of video and sound is not my priority for Vimeo.

I see, well in that case, I like your work. And the most important is that you are shooting something. There are some really "A" class looks I've seen around you footage. KEEP shooting because practice really make perfect and I hope to see some really killer footage.

Anyways, thank you for sharing what you do have, because in the end that is what it is all about.

    Later.
