Students with Multiple Disabilities need an edge when trying to communicate or trying to participate in class lessons. There are an array of devices to help. There are two categories of devices used. One device category is "Programmatic". The other device category is "Mandated". Programmatic devices are simpler to use and set up. They are a "starter" kit for children who need technology to learn. "Mandated" devices are acquired after special referrals and evaluations by therapy teams. But before we take the step to order "Mandated" devices, there are many 'Programmatic" devices that can smooth the way and create effective connections between the student's individual "voice" and the use of an assistive device. This video takes us into a variety of classrooms to see just how this is done.
