Short video documentation of Ian Helliwell’s Practical Electronica exhibition at Phoenix Brighton gallery in Nov/Dec 2011. Made with stills, video and animation, the film captures the various interactive parts of the display centred around the Practical Electronica documentary, concerning the work of electronic composer/inventor FC Judd.
The various exhibits lead off into other related areas of Helliwell's work, including collages and machines. His modified TV and microphone, and the Hellimatic electronic sound generator are shown being activated by visitors to the gallery.
The film was completed in February 2012 and first screened at Cafe Oto in London for the Wire Salon - Practical Electronica: From Chromasonics to the Megatherm.
