There is a very interesting and complex story behind this short film, it all began on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon it rained for most of the morning. For most of the day I was inside trying to make the most of it and I said to myself that when, or if the rain stopped at all. I would go outside and find something if not anything interesting to film for my 1 minute video. However it just rained and rained and rained non-stop for the majority of the day. The only things that I had experienced was my computer, TV, PS3 and homework, so I was relieved when it stopped raining and seized the opportunity to go out and try to find something to film. In the garden I searched for something interesting to film, but I already had an idea in mind which was to film a plant that was covered with water and reflected the light of the sun. So I went from plant to plant, at first I tried to film through a window with the camera but that didn’t work due to the reflection in the window. I eventually found myself outside being swarmed with mossies trying to film, at first a tried to capture a water drop hanging off the end of a leaf, however I couldn’t find the perfect conditions that I wanted. I tried every angel and every kind of close up's, long shots and mid shots to try and fit the intended conditions, so upon my search I came across a bush with the most stupendous violet flowers and had a second realization. Instead of having a raindrop hanging on the end of a leaf I would have a flower covered with drops of water and hopefully if presented with the opportunity captures on film a water drop hanging on the edge of the flower. So I set up my tripod and camera and tried to find the right flower for my intentions and eventually I did find the right flower, however it was difficult to find the right angle for my idea and it didn’t really help having the mossies swam around me 24/7 so I had to keep moving to keep them away. I must have had tried a multiple of different angles before I gave up and tried to find a new flower which I did however the conditions were much the same, even with Mortene being sprayed around me the mossies wouldn’t leave me alone so it was very difficult to work, so I eventually gave up when it started to rain again. This period of rain wasn’t as long as the last so I didn’t haft to wait very long to go out again. So like last time a toured around the same flower tree to try and find something to film, and then something caught my eye and as I moved closer it was exactly what I really wanted a water drop just hanging on a plant. So I didn’t waste any time so I just grabbed my camera and tripod and got it into position to film. I almost took every precaution to make sure it would turn out perfectly, so I observed from all kinds of shots form long to wide shots, it wasn’t later until I realised that the drop was actually reflecting the sun’s rays so it appeared as a diamond would. Without a moment to waste I had filmed it for 1 minute, however when I took the SD card out of the camera and uploaded the file onto the computer I decided I wanted a higher view of this rain drop, but when I got back to where it was the reflection of the sun in the rain drop had gone. However I set up and waited for long periods of time for the sun to come back out of the clouds and reflect into the raindrop, I even waited so long that this became impossible in the end because the sun had gone down behind the trees and the ray’s couldn’t get through to the raindrop. So I tried finding something else to film and found another flower that appeared to be reflecting the sun's rays but when I got a closer look with the camera it turned out to just be a dead end. However it got so late that I eventually had to pack up and go back inside and watched the 1 minute movie that I had a few times and over that period I came to realize that this was all that I needed and that it was fine and truly showed what I first wanted a raindrop hanging over a plant. So the major role I had in the development of this film was the entire creation and production.
