37. Peets Coffee in Slow Mo
A little clip I did with inspiration from Lucasberg and his slow mo videos... wanted to try some coffee slow mo... please comment and let me know if this looks ok... thanks,

If you turn your sound up, some scary sounds in there :) should have saved this for halloween.....

Camera: Canon HV20
Mode: Cinemode using 1/1000 for shutter. 1/2000 was too dark and didn't have enough lighting for 1/2000.
Editing: Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
Timeline: 20% slowed down
Tripod: Manfrotto w/ fluid head (not that i needed that in this one :)

Nice, I wish I drank coffee that looks tasty. You got some good coffee crowns with your drops. One of the sounds reminds me of a T-rex. Good Job.

Wow! That looks pretty cool! It does sound like the sounds of Halloween.
  • Mark Jensen 2 years ago
thx... yeah, don't remember what sound that came from, but kept it in there... i liked lucasberg's idea of leaving the slow mo audio in the clip.

    Did you record 60i?

Looks like it could have been smoother. And I agree with the sound. Somewhat... Silent Hill-Like.
  • Mark Jensen 2 years ago
yeah 60i. thx... yeah could have been smoother... i'll work on it :)

    *scared*

I agree with Crest, this could be more smoother, needing more frames.

Ah I remembered you write in your profile you have a HC3 too ... my HC7 has a slow-motion-function, for recording 3 seconds with about 200fps, maybe the HC3 can do this too?
  • Mark Jensen 2 years ago
i don't have the hc3 anymore :) i have the hv20 now. i can try what lucasberg did by doing 60 frames per second and then slowing it down. thx. 20% might have been too slow as well when only working with 29.97fps.

tiago's recommendation might fix the choppiness as well. i'll try it...

    Mark,
in premiere pro to get a smooth slowmo don“t forget to turn off "frame blend" and in "the field options" choose "flicker removal".
the limit for slowing down is 40% ( if you are shooting 60i ). a smooth slower than that you can only do in after Effects with time remaping.

40% and Go for it !

awesome! thx for the info. let me try it.
  • Mark Jensen 2 years ago
so i redid it. verified frame blend was used for this video as well as the new one i did. it was already checked. but the new video i just sped up to 40% instead of 20%.
