themotiongeek.com In 2009 I was asked to create an intro for an Atlanta-based web show called X-Posza.

I created this scene using three of Atlanta’s more recognizable structures. Each building was created in After Effects in 3D space, which was a giant pain, and I wish I had done it differently. Live and learn.

The GPC Building, Peachtree Towers, the Westin, and Suntrust Plaza are unique and are quite detailed. The most detailed is the Suntrust Plaza, which is made up of thirty seven parts, all of which are made of four sides and one top.

I was also required to recreate the client’s logo, as the one I was given had no transparency and could not be matted without ruining the look of the original. The client’s logo had a static flourish, but I added a little more life to the scene by animating the recreation.

Once the skyline was created and laid out properly, I simply added a gradient as the background, animated a camera to circle the layout, and added some glow and other color correction.
