Footage of the Assiniboine cycletrack, two years after being built, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Assiniboine Avenue is located in a high-density residential area. In general, it was a "normal" street running along the south boundary of Winnipeg's downtown with 4-way stop inersection. It previously had heavy cut-through traffic, especially at rush hour, creating conflicts with cyclists and pedestrians, esp. the numerous youth and seniors living in the area. Pollution used to be a problem, as cars waiting to turn onto major streets left long queues during peak times. The addition of curb bump-outs, alternating one way sections and a 2.8m-3.0+m bidirectional cycletrack greatly increased pedestrian and cycling usage.
