One day I was driving home thinking of how to express cosmic inspiration. I thought that a song about black holes but Muse already did that. I got home and had a discussion with Martin where the second most magical mystical universal entity came up: Dark Matter. We worked out the melody of the verse and then I went into production mode. After recruiting the distinguished expertise of Aram Bedrosian (bass), Chuck Palmer (drums), Dave Eggar (Cello) and John Carucci (lead guitar), we had a finished product. I play rhythm guitar, sing, and wrote the lyrics to represent an appropriate mix of documentary with analogy to invoke an emotive hook. Two main influences are the Glen Danzig song Mother and the Spinal Tap song Big Bottom. The video came together with Aimee Zambrana and Victor Federov, who play the roles of Dark Matter Personified and the Astrophysicist with ease and brilliance.
