RNA transcription, which produces RNA from DNA templates, is one of the most fundamental processes in biology and at the core of every biological event in living organisms. Despite over 50 years of research, we still do not understand basic properties, such as how transcription terminates, how RNA ends are produced, and how these RNA ends function to regulate gene expression post-transcriptionally. My laboratory studies 3’ Untranslated Regions (3’UTR), combining high-throughput genomics, bioinformatics, genetics, biochemistry and systems biology.
