On January 20, 2013, 601Artspace presented a fiction forum in conjunction with the exhibition The Unspecific Index. Five brilliant writers--Louis Chude-Sokei, Joshua Cohen, Matthew Derby, Jim Krusoe, Joanna Ruocco--and artist Sarah McDermott created dialogue with post-human ontology, non-symbolic language, and the materiality of thinking. This video is LOUIS CHUDE-SOKEI reading the story of P. T. Barnum from his novel The Last Darky: Bert Williams, Black-on-Black Minstrelsy, and the African Diaspora (2006).
The event was co-organized by Ben Bush and 601Artspace.
