Pastor Brendon Wu preaches on John 12:9-19, about the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. He speaks about the expectations that the people had -- they expect a great king to come, praising him as they shout out "Hosanna!" In six days, however, their long awaited Messiah will completely disappoint them as he dies on the cross for the sins of mankind. Jesus did not meet their expectations at all.

How often do we do that in our lives? We build up expectations of ourselves and other people, and when they do not act in the way that we had anticipated, we get utterly crushed and disappointed in them. Or we become pressured by the expectations of others and we end up disappointing them. In either situation, it's a lose-lose scenario. We must not be bound by other people. We must focus on God's expectation of us, which is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and be loved by him alone.
