How you shoot & edit this on the same freaking day as the wedding is absolutely amazing. Liked their back-story too.
  • stillmotion plus 4 months ago
thank you zach. the back story adds so much.

that was absolutely incredible, even more so
because you shared their story first... the blindfolded first meeting was amazing and the opening shots were breathtaking - especially the sunrise time lapse (I'm guessing someone didn't sleep much!)
  • stillmotion plus 4 months ago
hey, they call me krazy for a reason! drew and i woke up at 4:30am to get those shots.

mark woke up at the same time a couple weeks prior to for jodi's sde. when konrad mentioned that he had the idea of sunrise, then i reminded him mark had done it a couple weeks ago, he know he had no way out... and no sleep :)

You guys are Krazy! (yes, with a kapital K!) You should try the same thing but shoot the scene as RAW files, use the TC-80N3 intervalometer to shoot the timelapse, then process in ACR, do all your primary coloring there, make a file sequence, drop into FCP and then pan/scan over the massive 4K images! Its the only way to fly when it comes to timelapse.

    - I forgot to mention, you could set the timer and go back to bed!

Did the Stillmotion team come up with that blindfold scene? Very convincing - real moments there. How often are we challenged to get onto screen what is in our characters heads? Its like the stuff that doesn't make it from a good book as its adapted to screen - the nuances are often left out. Great technique - love it.
  • stillmotion plus 4 months ago
i guess now you can say it was stillmotion as justin joined our forces. his idea :)

actually, the story starts way before that. aaron and jess had a scheduling problem. they didn't want a huge gap between the ceremony and reception in which their guests had to wait, but their images were also very important. of course we suggested a first meeting and photoshoot in the morning. they loved the idea, but didn't want to see each other. this was the conclusion we ended up coming up with so that everything would work.

    1:45 WOW - what lens?
  • stillmotion plus 4 months ago
the 24 f1.4. it is a great prime lens // perfect size and weight, great in low light, and for a wide angle it has minimal distortion. we also use the 16-35 f2.8 but that lens has so much distortion it is more of an 'effects' lens.

is it the new or old 24? The old has amazing flare :)
  • stillmotion plus 4 months ago
it is the old one. i agree the reduced flare that they promote the lens with really isn't good for us. we have a couple of the new ones on the way, and i'm sad they aren't the old ones.

how you made transition between klip? I mean 00:13 - 00:25 Is just simple fade on black ground or is something else? thx
  • stillmotion plus 4 months ago
something else :) i wish it was that simple. true to our style, everything was done in camera.

Just put somebody's butt in those shots. In feature movies they do it all the time. Props to StillMotion to plan their wedding shots like Hollywood cinematographers.

    So positive and beautiful. :)
  •
  • Do you guys pick the music or do you have the bride & groom pick?
  • stillmotion plus 4 months ago
we are very actve in the process and generally choose the entire soundtrack for a film. we get to know each couple so we can choose something that fits them, but we would never want to pigeon-hole or hold something back by constraining it to a specific piece.

the song is: Greg Laswell - Off I Go.
Great video, however i do think it's important to credit a musician when used as they are so integral to the 'feel' of a film.
