but you had to do another take on the crane @ 3:57
Also, we really should have had them speaking dialog as the jib came down.
Such is the 48 Hour Film Project. There are so many things that we would have improved with more time...

Hopefully, we will be selected to appear in the Best of Portland show on August 31, where we will learn which film will represent our city.

Our whole team enjoyed "Overdrawn." It had the best concept punch line of the night.
We didn't really care for the winning film (or the acceptance speech.) And I can't fathom how "Game Night" didn't win best score. Oh well. They got Best Theme Song right. :)
Best of luck next year!
We were a bit mystified with the "Best Of" ourselves - the best explanation I can come up with is that the judges wanted that lo-fi, after effects driven, homemade style.
I'd love if the 48HFP would review and improve their judging: add 2 more judges (5 total), make the procedure more transparent, add more criteria and do more to ensure the local producers don't 'flavor' the results.
Trying to make sure I'm not coming off as a sore loser here... it's more of a confusion thing...
Cheers!

But, yeah, more transparency in the judging and more judges - especially if they are real film experts - would be good for the 48. Personally, I'd like them to pick the film that would be most likely to advance to Cannes. I don't think they did that this year.
The previous two times we participated, we were proud to lose to your team. "Tooth and Nail" and the "Love and Sappiness" were both priceless!
