Tenderly We Bite was inspired by notable literary figures and legends of the Jazz Age, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. Though Scott earned his recognition by penning novels such as The Great Gatsby, Tender is the Night, and The Beautiful and Damned wife Zelda was also known for her writing and artwork. Despite being revered for their extravagant, glamorous, and at times frivolous lifestyle, the Fitzgeralds were also exploited by the media and plagued by financial struggles, alcoholism, and psychiatric hospitalisation throughout their relationship. Tenderly We Bite examines both the ‘beautiful’ and the ‘damned’ nature of this couple’s life together.
