This video takes you on a journey with The Colour Parade through the city of Sydney.
For the past five yeas The Colour Parade has been an annually occurring artistic statement that takes the form of a public parade in Sydney and Melbourne Australia. It is a spontaneous performance that celebrates life, love, art and unity with the motto 'It doesn't matter what you are, it matters that you are!'
Since its beginnings in 2007 the Colour Parade has been bringing vibrance and life to the dominant beige-grey of the general city surroundings. Bringing together people of all ages, shapes, colours and different walks of life to gather and be free to dress up in a way that expresses their inner creative self, no matter what that may be.
The resulting mass of colour and joy interjects a display of creativity, compassion, understanding and acceptance into the passive observer's otherwise routine day. But not all observers remain passive, the best thing about the parade is that onlookers can't resist joining the joyful chaos, allowing them to freely express themselves and be accepted and celebrated for it.

THE COLOUR PARADE:
“It doesn’t matter what you are, it matters THAT you are…"
The Colour Parade is an artistic statement in the shape of a parade. It is a spontaneous public performance celebrating life, love, art and unity.
The Colour Parade allows people of all ages, shapes, colour and different walks of life to gather, get dressed up as there best self, and interact with other people of like mind, heart, and compassion.
The Colour Parade is an expression of self, no matter what the end result may be.
“It doesn’t matter what you are, it matters THAT you are”.
The Colour Parade creates a network for participants to work with creatively, socially and artistically. The Colour Parade is an opportunity for all creative people to socialize and network in order to build a stronger creative community unit in the world.
The Colour Parade is, for the passive observer, an interventionist artwork. The Colour Parade interjects a display of creativity, joy, compassion, understanding, and acceptance into the general public’s otherwise routine day.
The Colour Paraders are all from different sub cultures that are not the conventional “normal”. This gathering is formed to question what is the “normal” and brake free from stereotypes. To “Join The Colour Parade” is to make a public statement that we all may look different but we recognize our diversity as something to unite over. Colour Paraders realize that separated they are nearly powerless yet as a unit they can make real their dreams and create positive change.
