ART INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE ITALY-MEXICO
opening > Oaxaca January 19, 2013
MARNERO is a installation created specifically for the Art International Bridge Italia-Messico, actually exposed in Oaxaca. It originates from a reflection on issues and socio-environmental emergencies, equal for both countries . This is an installation composed of three paintings measuring 180 to 144 cm, the subject is the sea, represented in different colors and framing. Are shown next to each other in line, size reproduce in scale, the classic 4:3 aspect ratio video. MARNERO and MARFANGO at sides are oil on canvas, MARBIANCO in the middle, is treated with a special reflective paint, acts as a projection screen video.
The main elements of the work are those that distinguish the aesthetic and conceptual research that the artist carry on from years: the ambition to reconciles the painted image with the digital one, essentially figurative is the painting element, which changes and is transformed into an almost abstract surface through the overlap of the video projections.
The contents of the video are environmental degradation and violence, whether perpetrated against nature that against women. The sea and the woman, symbolically represent life, are the favorite victims of a humanity that can not fail to self-destruct. Self-destruction expressed by the scream of pain of the performer Betta Porro introduces the projection on the central canvas. The stop-motion sequences of the creative phases of the framework distinguish and emphasize the screenplay divided into three chapters / pictures, the same textual function has the female voice of the performer Lara Baracetti, which acts some texts (Marnero: poetry "dada"; Marbianco: "Cuerpo desierto" Susana Chavez; Marfango: Apocalypse 12: 13/17).
