Avant-garde filmmaker Joey Huertas documents on Super8mm film, and portable HIDef digital technology, the first U.S. trip of dissident cuban anti-Castro blogger Yoani Sanchez. Here is captured the entire seminar at THE NEW SCHOOL including its emotional and physical reactions of pro and anti Yoani Sanchez participants at The New School's seminar : Re-codification of Cuba in New York CIty.

The emotional anger was palpable. Joey Huertas originally participated in the moderated two hour Bi-lingual Internet Radio discussion a week before Yoani's travel Visa was approved. Sanchez arrived in the United States for the first time on an 80-day, 12-country tour that has so far taken her to cities in Brazil, Mexico and various European countries since late February. She had been denied a VISA permission to leave Cuba 21 times in the last five years.

Blogger Yoani Sánchez ended her three-day participation in technology and information seminars in New York remembering the impact of the Black Spring, a wave of massive detentions that took place in Cuba a decade ago. “I want to honor and remember those independent journalists, activists and peaceful opponents. They opened a road that we now continue to tread,” Sánchez said on Sunday. “They presented an opposition to which we feel we are heirs despite all the censorship and repression.”
