This is part of a storm that swept across southern Ontario. The Toronto area even had tornados. Toronto missed the tornados, but had a lot of rain, high winds, lightning, downed power lines, etc. About 18 seconds into this 1 minute video, watch for a real close lightning strike (like you might not notice!) and the resulting noise. (Turn your speakers up; I dare you.) I suspect this is what knocked out my neighbour's phone line.
