82. Z-Finder V2
Zacuto releases their newest DSLR Optical Viewfinder with the Z-Finder V2, which allows DSLR cameras to have the correct form factor for video.

In this product introduction video, Steve Weiss and Mandy Rogers explain the new features of the Z-Finder V2: 3x focusable magnification, a 40mm diameter lens, an adjustable eye-cup preventing extraneous light leakage, and a field of view perfectly matched to LCD screens. They elaborate on the benefits of the lanyard loop which allows for added security and flexibility.

Next, they offer simple instruction to mounting the frame to the LCD screen with a double sided adhesive. After the frame is installed, the Z-finder can then be easily snapped on or off which offers a quick view flexibility. Since the DSLR viewfinder is critical for precision focus on shallow depth-of-field cameras, Steve offers step-by-step instructions on adjusting the focus wheel for precision, "It's extremely fine focus."

The Z-Finder V2 is developed by Zacuto, the leading indie camera accessories maker in the professional market. All Zacuto products are designed and made in the USA and have a lifetime warranty. Hi David,
We shot this video with 1 HPX170 with a Letus Elite and a 50mm lens. That camera is on the dolly.

The other two cameras (for the closeups) are HVX200's.

Thank you, it's just that I'm doing a little research on what to aquire, and you have a Canon 5D MkII on your tags.

    Good work, btw.

    Hey Steve,

I am so curious if this Z-Finder also fits on the new 7D, any ideas yet?

    thx
  • It should. The screen size is the same but I have not gotten my hands on a 7D yet.

Oh man I would love to get this if it wasn't so dang expensive, but what isn't in video land. I really do hate being a broke student.
  • Tell you what, I'm looking for someone to do a completely unbiased video evauation of the Z-Finder. If you hate it, fine, if you love it, fine. No bulls*it. I'll send you out the Z-Finder for review. Email me your info and we'll get it out to you. steve@zacuto.com

I'm no expert i this. And I'm just starting out to learn these things. Ive been doing a bit of research on Video DSLR Cameras. Even for a total newbie who know very very little in this field, I couldnt help but appreciate in the usefulness of this little gem just by looking at it. Hmmm .. if only it wasn't that expensive...
