Jen Morris questions integration and eroticism with Cheese Louise. Cheese Louise is a character created to reveal the difficulty related to the integration from abroad in Switzerland.
Cheese Louise is a foreigner who seeks integration vis-à-vis the constant rejection resulting from xenophobia. Despite isolation and financial ruin, she remains optimistic and tries to familiarize herself with her new environment by immersing herself in it, literally. The Swiss culture is bathed in fondue and Cheese Louise finds her obsession through this national symbol.
It is her despair and obsession that ultimately creates a secret pleasure for her. She engrosses herself in fondue and has fun with cheese instead of boiling with revulsion. The aversion becomes exciting and she discovers an intimate and reliable depravity.
