One of the criticisms the Gardner-Lambert motivation model is that terminology is repetitive creating the problem of knowing where motivation and integration are to be assessed in this idealized model.
Rather than following this complicated model, other researchers have been drawn to survey two motivational factors:
“Interpersonal/affective” and “practical/utilitarian” motivation. (Dörnyei, 2005, p. 70)
