The title is a joke - this clip is so old, that when I made it in 1999, the year 2000 was still the future.

I had just gotten a copy of Adobe After Effects and wanted to play with the masking tools, so I went with a few friends to a road on the RIT campus, set up a tripod, and recorded cars going by. I also recorded myself running into the road, and later I composited all that footage together. When it was finished I posted it to my website.

This was one of my first videos, and one of the first "fake viral" clips to ever appear on the Internet. It has appeared on hundreds of websites and probably been seen millions of times.

Woah, I remember seeing this ages ago and many times since. In 7th grade the cast of our school play watched it in the dressing rooms before having to go on stage. We had huge debates about wether or not it was real. That was early 2004...lol

OH MAN, is that K LOT? Dude, I can see that exact place out my window right now.
  • Jake Lodwick 2 years ago
I believe it is, though I forget the name of each RIT lot. This is coming up on 8 years ago, I can hardly believe it. The video was quite a phenomenon at RIT when it came out, partly because nobody else knew how to make videos, period.

    haha, thanks for linking me.

My hard work has generated 340 thousand page views for my competitor and attracted the comments of almost 2000 of the dumbest people on earth.

Jakob, what was your reaction to seeing this on commercial banners? It seems that's even more litigable than the copies on MySpace and YouTube, and more offensive to the creator.
  • Jake Lodwick 2 years ago
I haven't seen it on any banners lately. I talked to the company that was using it about a year ago (Zango?) and they replaced it with a remake.

holy cow, I remember you from RIT. I dont think we actually met, but my freshman year, I was computer science and you were New Media and i saw some video of you doing a fake infomercial which ends with the line "I got a blowjob while taking a crap". I switched to New Media the next year. Best of luck. Take care.
