Trailer for our upcoming documentary. Humpback whales, once decimated by whaling, have begun reappearing off Ireland. Conor Ryan, a young passionate PhD student, is trying to locate and study them on their breeding grounds, so as to help conserve them.
Ten year’s of research by a small driven group of individuals with almost no resources, has led Conor to the Cape Verde Islands, 600Km west of Senegal. On locating the breeding grounds, the question arises as to whether these whales might be genetically different to other humpbacks? If so, this would make them hugely important to the species as a whole. Their numbers have dropped to less than 200 animals when Conor discovers that their breeding grounds are being endangered by a local tourism boom.
We have been working on 'Whale Watcher' for two years now without any form of funding.. because we believe it's an important story.. we hope you like it.
