What happens when you stick a few people who can’t agree on anything at first… but later agree on everything… in a virtual room to do some app design? This is the result.

I like the progression of the design but I'm afraid this is still blown out the water by Convertbot (vimeo.com/3761572)

Can't imagine how many mockup files you guys did to get the final UI. Really stunning piece of software.

I disagree about Convertbot being a BETTER design. It's really slick looking and gadgety so it may be a "cooler" design but I feel Convert has a more intuitive, quicker, and more useful design. Thus the winner for me is Convert as I can actually use it twice as fast as Convertbot. Convertbot requires nearly double the amount of taps to get to the same info because it requires you confirm selections with the ok button.

The one thing Convertbot has over Convert is the ability to enter multiple units like ft & in to return total meters.

Nice video for us to know design a UI is difficult!!

Very nice work! Great video too, thanks. And I totally agree with Jered, utilities like these are all about tap count and speed. And I see no reason why mixed values cannot be added in a future update.

I agree with Jered's comment about Convert vs. ConvertBot.

ConvertBot is *cooler* looking, but actually using it is kind of a pain. I've got both apps but I can do conversions quicker using Convert for sure(I keep ConvertBot just to show off to people ;).

PS: If anyone from Convert is reading this, you need to add minutes/km(not km/minute) in the speed category. It's a standard way to measure running speed outside of the US.

Yes, the addition of a min/km 'pace' would be really cool under Speed.

Thanks for posting this, it was a lot of fun to watch. Even cooler has been seeing the reactions this video brings out in non-designers who are unfamiliar with the 'playing' that goes on during the design process.

The app feels really slick guys, but in a way that's actually helpful to the user. ConvertBot looks cool until you actually have to use it. Great work. :)
