“Looking for Freedom in Florida” consists of 4 videos created by 4th grade
students in Jaya Eeten’s Video Focus Class at Perkins Elementary School, St. Petersburg, Florida. The videos depict the 4 freedoms as envisioned by FDR and the students’ portrayal of those freedoms through their study of Florida’s history. Freedom of Speech, Freedom from Fear, Freedom from Want, and Freedom of Worship. Each Freedom was interpreted by Jaya Eeten’s, Joel Heller’s, Sandra Rosado’s, and Eileen Weiss’ 4th grade students. Given the serious conflicts and deep hatreds that exist in today’s world, we believe that our children will learn that they can contribute in ways that work towards creating and preserving freedom through international understanding. Freedom is a big idea and not easily achieved. That’s why it’s crucial for our world’s children to attain the understandings, skills, and knowledge that nurture a commitment to a better world.
