This video chronicles a pop-up restaurant organized by students at College of the Atlantic (COA) in Bar Harbor, Maine. It functions to promote The Restaurant and acts as an aesthetic appreciation of the one-night event.
Twenty-seven students formed an ad hoc committee that worked cooperatively to source food from local farms and merchants. Some ingredients were foraged, others gleaned from a nearby grocery.
The student organizers planned, cooked, and served a healthy meal as a fundraiser for Share The Harvest. Share The Harvest is a food access program that distributes $50 farmstand vouchers to participating families on Mount Desert Island, Maine. Beech Hill Farm, an organic farm owned by COA, accepts these vouchers at their farmstand.
On October 28th, 2012 The Restaurant fed 94 students, college faculty, and island residents. A total of $801 was raised for the Share the Harvest program. The Restaurant pops up once a season, and continues to bring community together around food.
