Can community gardens serve as neighborhood drop-off sites for organics waste – aka compost?
That is the question the City of St. Paul wants to answer. Through CityLabs, students enrolled in Urban Ecosystem Ecology at St. Thomas are assisting St. Paul to determine the feasibility of the proposed initiative by researching regional urban compost programs, gathering input from community gardeners, and analyzing garden sites with regards to nutrient capacity, location, amounts of household waste produced in those areas, and possible participation levels.
