Jesus’ offer of salvation in its basic form is the believing of Jesus for eternal life. As Jesus prepares to enter the city of Jerusalem for the final week of His life, He sends a clear message about His power to resurrect. As a preview to His own resurrection, Jesus raises His friend Lazarus from the dead. Just a few days prior to His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the now raised-from-the-dead Lazarus enjoys a meal with Jesus and others. Lazarus’ sister, Mary, anoints Jesus’ feet with extremely costly oil. The next day, Jesus and His disciples arrive in the city and are greeted by cheering crowds. Jesus shares a meal with the disciples. There, He explains a new symbol. Bread would represent Jesus’ body. The cup would be a reminder of His blood. It’s a symbol that serves as a lasting reminder for all of us today.
