This edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel features a powerful documentary on the life of Jewish-Israeli journalist, Gideon Levy. Aptly titled "Going Against the Grain," it charts Levy's life-long commitment to exposing the brutality and inhumanity of Israel's occupation. We also report on a new public campaign by Vermonters for a Just Peace in Palestine/Israel calling on Ben & Jerry's, the well-known producer of premium ice cream and an iconic leader of the socially responsible business community, to end its commercial complicity in Israel's occupation and settlement regime. The company, in violation of its own Social Mission, manufactures ice cream in Israel and sells it in Jewish-only settlements in Occupied Palestine. Finally, the show will air a documentary by Al Haq on the demolition of a home belonging to a Palestinian, Muhammad Taha, who was unable to secure a building permit from Israeli occupation authorities. Thousands of Palestinians have suffered a similar fate. Special thanks to Danny Weiss, technical producer, and Jamie Brooks, VTJP webmaster.
