In this animation I attempted to fill the composition as much as possible with colour, form and texture rather than rely, as I have In the past on large areas of black which have a particular association with astrological space. I also attempted to broaden my colour palette and kept the use of white or black to a bare minimum. There is also further experiments with textural elements within the animation, the incorporation of video footage which has been shot directly from a computer monitor, revealing the pixels that make up earlier, unused sketches or the physical diffraction of white light revealed on a compact disc.
One of the things on my mind whilst I produced the work, was the idea of a transference of energy. Initially it was about the moment of death when a persons life energy leaves the body but progressively came to incorporate notions of Samadhi or the final step in the human path. In this sense the work represents not the end, nor the beginning but simply a single step in a long chain of events.
The music for this animation was produced using two elements, for the first time I used the looping facility on DJay software by Algoriddim that allowed me to isolate musical or sound elements and heavily process them live, this became the initial rhythm, vocal and descending tonal elements. The other elements were taken from a Roland SH01. The only firm idea i had about the soundtrack was that at some point I wanted a sense of everything dropping away, the sudden removal an underlying structure. This happens in the first few seconds of the piece, where the intitial rhythmn is replace with an ethereal section, later underpinned by a more musical rhythmic motif.
