The Mandelbrot set is the most famous object in the branch of mathematics known as fractals and chaos theory. It was discovered in 1980 by the mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot, who pioneered this relatively new field. This animation uses the Mandelbrot equations to create the 3d fractal structure. This is the first fractal animation I have created using Mandelbulb 3D. It took 125 hours to render the individual frames of the animation. This was a first attempt at the program so is a basic fly through animation. If I was to make another fractal animation I would look into making the fractal morph and explore the infinite zooming capabilities of fractals.
