I woke up on Easter and went out with my wife to clean up various roadways around Salt Lake County including Highland Drive, I-80, 215 belt route and in Utah Country behind Smith's on SR-92. On our road ways there is an incredible amount of waste the average commuter never notices while traveling at 70-80 mph. Having ran, biked and walked these road ways it's hard not to notice the scope of the damage that is constantly being added to. Among the various trash we found, plastic bags, trash, cardboard, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, election signs, fertilizer bags, ice melt, a flask, inhaler, gloves, saran wrap, big gulps, plastic lids and fishing line. Imagine what is leaching out of all this plastic into the waterways of our city.
