We received our Winger Numéro Huit (that's French for Numero Ocho) from Ghislain Leroux, one of our Canadian Sales Reps, and it's a doozy, featuring a couple of random French Canadian climber dudes named Olivier Ouellette and Martin Laroche. Whoever these guys are they have a brilliant sense of humor and have surely spawned a new way to enjoy slabs. Just check out the vid, read what they wrote about their stunt and go buy yourself a sk8board...

It’s my last day in Squamish tomorrow and I haven’t been on Diedre. Everybody is so into that climb, and I don’t understand why. More than 10 parties a day will line-up to bake on the Apron slab, in the sun, half a meter off this noisy highway! I previously climbed another harder route on the Apron, and I don’t feel like going back there. And I don’t really care about not being able to talk about how nice the climb is….

They were lucky it was about to rain. Nobudy was on the route as we threw our ropes down, linking pitches, going fast, … DOWNHILL !

We bought a 20$ skateboard and rappeled the thing. One foot duct-taped on the board, we were riding sideway doing huge pendulum while feeding slack. A first descent probably. Onsight !

I don’t know about the climb, but sure Diedre is a nice route !

Keep it fun.

Martin Laroche

PS. Always tie a knot at ropes end to make sure you don’t go through. Seriously.
