Here's another little reel of footage I just finished. Its a mix of RED One footage, Canon 40D and Canon 5D Mark 2. Most of the footage was shot with a set of Zeiss ZF primes with a Nikon to EOS adaptor. The music in the clip is from the "Watchmen" soundtrack.

Awesome. Those first clouds were mesmerizing.
  • 599 Productions 4 months ago
Yeah those clouds were really cooperating that day. I was just driving North and noticed them. Good thing I take my RED camera with me everywhere.

Very impressive cloud footage indeed! Could you explain how you did that exactly? Interval, exposure... Thanks!

    nice, very nice!
could you tell us what interval and exposure you used for the bridge/traffic sequence please?
  • 599 Productions 4 months ago
The interval was determined by the exposure. So the interval was as soon as the shutter closed then opened again. I used a range of exposures ranging from a 1/4 of a second to 15 seconds.

this is great. one question i got to know though, was the one shot with the really blue super starry night sky a composite????
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
No, that was all done in camera. I'm also going to start playing with some grad filters to try and get some unusual star timelapse. I'll share it when I give it a try.

    Pretty.

Sir, what lens-camera combination did you use for the shot at the tunnel entrance (2:21-2:33)?
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
That was the 5D2 and the Sigma 15mm f~2.8. Full Frame really makes a difference on those wide lenses.

Amazing stuff! The fire footage is great. Are you the guy that almost got jumped shooting timelapses on that bridge?
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
Yeah that was me. The shot on the bridge that's in this piece was when it took place. Good thing I was ready for that or I wouldn't have been able to make this. Or at least the stars shot and the fire shot wouldn't have been in there. Not to mention the shots out on that bridge.

Amazing! I can't believe the clarity of the night shots. You kind of teased us with one slow motion shot. By the way was really cool!
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
Just wait for some others I'm working on. They will be in the next reel.

wow nice job!! where is that bridge at 2:47? I'm glad you are safe. yikes!
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
That's the 6th Street bridge and it is in the hood. But sometimes you have to go to dangerous places to get the shot.

amazing, like other 599 productions work. (my fav is rell no.2)
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
Reel# 2 is really nice. But I'm hoping that Reel#5 will blow all the others away. As it will be edited to a specific piece of music and be 6:35 long. Like a mini short film.
  • Adam Hencze 3 months ago
looking forward to this, anyway- me personally- love the music from reel #2, so.. you know, be carefull what kind youll choose for it! ;)

    it will be great anyway

@ about 2:57... amazing shots man! Love the streetlights.
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
I was trying something a little different in that shot. Mainly to keep the exposure down a little to give it a more real look than light saturated.

Great work Sir Breath taking. How do I go about doing time lapse with my canon 5DM2?
  • 599 Productions 3 months ago
I have a wire remote controller that I use to fire off the frames. Canon makes it and its called the Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3. One of the most important pieces of equipment for timelapse, using a DSLR.

SO many great shots. The clouds, love the water sprinklers, the highway with increasing shutter lengths, and the fire is SO surreal! Bravo!

As good as it gets ! Can you give an advice to a novice who has never done any time lapse ? I plan on filming a construction, how do you set the tripod so the next day you shoot, the framing remains exactly the same ?

You are awsome friend. I really loved the colors. =)

Could you till me what shots were done on red?
I'm really interested coz im about to buy SI2K or Red.
I felt the color in SI2K is more like a film. But I'm amazed by your work.

    Thanks alot in advance. ;)
