Food is basic to our survival. But the culture of how we eat is embraced differently by different societies. Indeed, food is inseparable from culture and reflects, even interprets, society.
In contemporary North America, therefore, one may suspect that the rising popularity of fast food chains is influenced by the increased rapidity of life from techno-culture. This film doesn't focus on the health concerns, as many other films such as SuperSize Me have already addressed. Rather, the unsettling dichotomy this film creates aims to put in perspective the pace in which fast food is produced and consumed to hopefully encourage audience members to evaluate their own eating habits.
