UN Mine Action Service Director, Agnés Marcaillou, tells us how landmines are inhuman weapons that keep on killing for many years after they are initially deployed and how they do not distinguish between the foot of a soldier and the foot of a child. She stresses the importance of raising awareness, remembering the victims and asking countries to ratify and implement the Ottawa convention to ban these treacherous weapons.
Ms. Marcaillou was visiting Brussels to inaugurate the exhibition “Landmines: treacherous weapons” that is open to the public until 28/06/2013 at the Military Museum.
