Raw, Sexy, Provocative, Explosive, Anti-Fashion!
Dido Fontana has an unbiased look for sure: he superimposes on each image its negative as well, as if you constantly had the possibility to see both the beauty and the rottenness, nature and artifice, within everything. His shots always seem accidental, but the inner details of still lives and compositions are not unplanned at all, and the human figure often prevails. They get your attention with movements caught with a baroque distraction, just a tiny moment before or after the pose. That’s where Dido takes you, right in front of his image, telling you to take a look, to spy on the naturalness of those non-poses.
He’s the one to decide where you have to stay and how much you can and you cannot see.
Sometimes he even manages to decide how long you’re going to look at that image, foreseeing where your eye is going to go and what it’s going to escape from.
It’s a precise (un)grammar that manages to give everything a new life, meaning and beauty. But even if there’s a strong physicalness in his shots, it gets almost immediately clear that these are not photos about sex, but about life. There’s everything about life in them. Life that grows, life that will be and, sometimes, in some images, life that once was". (Virginia S.)
