When we first saw Ralph Steiners short film Mechanical Principles we though? How can we take it to a another level? We decided to do a Recut version. Contrary to the original version we sampled a bunch of tools and made a soundtrack.
This is our school examination we did during autumn 2012. All the sound effects was sampled with an iPhone 4S. The soundtrack is composed in Logic Pro.
Mechanical Principles (1930) by Ralph Steiner, originally a silent film re-edited and mixed by James Théophane. Ralph Steiner (February 8, 1899 – July 13, 1986) was an American photographer, pioneer documentarian and a key figure among avant-garde filmmakers in the 1930s.
