So many times I felt a sense of utter hoplesness thinking there were not hope. I've watched how people are being manipulated, utterly abused and treated worse than an animal. Trying to do my bit, I joined groups and a religion organization thinking they were the answer. How frustrated I became when I finally realised they are also part of the problem. I can only ask to anyone who watch this video, PLEASE pass over the information, it is so critical. We must come out of this BIG FAKE society before it's too late!

Delivered with authority! A clear, concise, thought-provoking presentation that should be required viewing for anyone who wants to "be the change" they want to see in this world. Indeed - ought to be required viewing, stet. Well done Peter.
(P.S. Also - earnest congratulations on the likelihood that Zeitgeist: The Movie, has probably (as of Aug 2009) been viewed by around 100 million worldwide, and as noted elsewhere, 10k views day for the equally excellent Addendum. It's just a pity that (so far at least) with only around 0.5% signing up to the movement (even so, an impressive number as it accelerates toward the half mill mark, admittedly!) there are still too many choosing to 'take the blue pill' ... no doubt this has to change, though!)
  • I would question the notion that his real name is James: zeitgeistmovie.com/q&a.htm

I can't seem to do anything with the Quicktime version. I don't suppose a .wmv version could be made available for download?

It would make further distribution easier. :)
  • A HQ torrent would be nice!

Complacency breeds stagnancy. If everyone in the world becomes content with what he or she has, advancement will become sluggish if not stopped. I think this lecture is loaded with revolutionary ideas. I still think that there are some gaps that may need to be filled. Peter Joseph states that people serve humanity without monetary incentive and that is true. His examples are Einstein, Martin Luther King, and the average American. Their incentive is created from scarcity of a good or service. However, if there is no scarcity in the world, would advancement stop?

His Egalitarian society that he exemplifies in the end of the lecture, the hunter and gatherer society, is stuck in the dark ages. We were only able to creep upon this new 'technosociety' that he advocates through incentive and advancement and not complacency. This is only one possible hole that I can see in my first viewing. Does anyone have a comment on this counter?
  • We don't espouse the view that there will be an absolute unimaginable abundance of goods to no limit. People will always be working to improve on this or that because of a lack (degree of scarcity) in one way or another.

The society we have today is a result of the creative ingenuity of human beings, which occurs through many incentives- be it monetary gain, the desire to see improvement, et al,.

I think a good example might be someone who has Ulcerative Colitis (as I personally do) becoming a doctor with the wish of improving the lives of people specifically with that disease. Their incentive is the cessation of suffering for others (likely along with other incentives).

So there are so many incentives today, and there will be in the future - the important thing for society is to find the higher and more beneficial incentives.

Ok, that is a very good point. Just based off my own curiosity, how do you propose to allocate goods and services without a monetary medium to conduct transactions? I have heard of small groups around the world that come together to barter without the use of monetary notes because of one reason or another ie inflation or currency collapse. One example is the Argentina Barter Fair in 2002, where the participants brought their goods and services to exchange for a receipt with an objective value. These receipts were then traded for whatever good or service the owner needed. However, isn't this really the same as monetary exchange? Could a resource based economy distort the aggregate of society's view on the value system currently in place. Not that it isn't already dysfunctional, I concede.

One thing is for sure, a life without exorbitant interest, greed, and dishonesty would be nice. How do you propose to reeducate the educators? The people that have created the establishment we currently reside may not be willing to change to an economic structure they are no longer masters of. A movement from the ground level could be interesting and when enough people change in direction, the world will change as well.

Lastly... are we talking centralized or decentralized control? Communistic or laissez faire? I know these are absolute terms, but it helps to have parameters.

How can one person possibly have such talent and wisdom at young age and simultaneously come across so relaxed and likable? You have to imagine that he was not schooled into this and came up with most of the insight himself! The word Genius comes to mind, certainly one of the greatest inspirations of this century full stop.

Thank you for the much needed fundamental wisdom that the Z movies have provided. I believe in this cause and want to be a part of the solution, however big or small my part may be. We advocate the Venus Project on our website, and I bring up the message whenever I can integrate it in a conversation, or plain just have an opportunity to convey the information. If there is anything else we can do please let us know.
    You Rock!

Would love it if someone could upload this video (in full) to You Tube as well. Pretty much all Vimeo videos are choppy both visually and acoustically. There are little clipping sounds that make the video pretty much unplayable (and I have a broad band connection). Would be much appreciated! (I'm sure the video will reach a wider audience this way too.)

What an excellent refresher to both Zeitgeist movies. And due to my majoring in psychology, I appreciate you having revisited psychology and sociology's crucial role in the possibility of overriding this dilemma.
The showing of Q&A would've been equally granted, I'm sure ;)

amazing!! this is what most of us zeitgeist supporters needed to further propogate the movement. Its very hard for most of the people I talk to, to imagine a world without money and a time where one only works for quality.. this should give them something to chew on!! great insights
  • Don't introduce it initially as a world without money. ;) You need to address the root problems first, remember that we weren't exposed to it as a "world without money" from the outset.

That's at least one hour into Addendum before we even begin to consider that.
  •
  • Guneet Narula 1 month ago
Yes quite true. It is absurd to begin with describing a society without money.. Just the way I accepted this idea after understanding the current scenario with all its problems and crisis, others would too. But strangely, most people just leave it at "Society wont have incentive, or nothing to work for" or even "I dont think anything can be done about it now" .. From there own one needs a lot patience to put across the point in its entirity. Its working, but slowly.
  • It doesn't necesarily matter if you don't CONVINCE each individual of the validity of our proposals at this time, even if they just know about them - that's a big step. :)

Ok, natural or not it seems that a few feel better overcoming and/or subjugating others. Do you think these cats are going to speak english? what is it up to? to death?
I find no job, I owe a lot of rent maybe they're going to kick me out, I have no relation with my parents, I steal food, but this is no life, I'm about to hustle and I don't want, I'm an artist but if I want to live off it I gotta do something that sells and Zeitgheist doesn't, not yet...so WHAT THE FUCK CAN I DO?
  •
  • Jan Sebin 4 days ago
    To Jade Keegan:
Start planting wheet, potatos and so on.
In that case you might survive even without job.

Anyway, when will appear the Peter's second lecture?
It's been already few days since it and still nothing.
