John M. Ronning

Born April 15, 1958 to Maynard and Alma (Isakson) Ronning in Marshalltown, IA, died April 3, 2013 in Detroit MI at the age of 54 after a courageous battle against Leukemia. John moved to Michigan in 1968 with his family and graduated from Waverly High School. He worked at Ed's Refinery Stations before becoming a postal carrier for the United States Post Office in Perry, MI. John was the owner of Ronning Farm along with his father and brother, raising and racing thoroughbred horses at the Detroit Race Track. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. John’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends, his dogs and horses, and trips to the race track and casinos. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. Surviving is friend, Sue Benjamin, three brothers Daniel, Mark (Denise), and Timothy, niece, Marsha (Eric) Roberts, nephews Kiel (Jackie) Ronning and Aaron Ronning, three great nieces: Nora, Claira, and Kaylie, a great nephew, Cameron and Sue’s 3 children: Katey (Mark) Joseph, Ryan Benjamin and Cody (Monica) Benjamin. He also leaves behind several loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
