When I saw Damon Albarn perform this song at the 'Drifting & Tilting' concerts last year, I was left feeling determined to create my own version of what is perhaps one of Scott Walker's most beautiful works, the opening track to the 1990s' most daring album 'Tilt'. No current vocalist comes anywhere near Scott Walker's inimitable sound, and this is what inspired me to create a stripped down version of one of my favourite songs. To any die-hard Walker fans: please do not be offended by this cover; it is by no means an attempt to jump on the bandwagon of a musical legend, but an attempt to create something of an homage to one of my biggest influences.
